Meridian Energy is the largest renewable energy generator in New Zealand operating seven hydro stations and three wind farms across New Zealand.  With the majority of their generation operations located in the South Island, Meridian is a significant contributor to the South Island economy, supporting essential energy supplies to business and domestic users.

Tekapo Chain Dam Safety Reviews

Management and coordination of consultants and Meridian maintenance staff to undertake annual Dam Safety Reviews as part of Meridians statutory requirements. This involved shutting various structures down to enable inspections and assessment (2007/8).

Northbank Tunnel

Management of the concept design and feasibility stage of the North Bank Tunnel Project. The project involved the construction of a 30km tunnel through the hills adjacent to the Waitaki River, and hydro-electric power station at Black Point (2009/10).

Manapouri Power Station

Business case, concept design and tender management of the proposed Manapouri Power Station Penstock Relining Project. The project involved shutting down each 180m penstock at a time and relining each with a spray-on gunite material to improve hydraulic efficiency and to remove the risk of damage to the turbines (2008/9).
